On Friday, February 20th at 10:30am I had to go to Royal Oak Beaumont to have a Fetal Echocardiogram. The reason I had to go for the Echo was because after my glucose testing on Wednesday the baby's heartbeat was dropping a beat after every 4th beat. My doctor told me that this is a common occurrence with baby's in-utero. However, if I would feel better, she would send me for the ultrasound. I decided to have the ultrasound on Friday morning.
My mom went with me to the hospital and the visit was about an hour long. They checked everything. I got to see all the chambers of the heart, the arteries, the valves, and the blood flow. We even got to hear the heartbeat and the blood flowing through the heart. All the structures looked great and everything sounded wonderful. The tech couldn't find anything wrong. The doctor came in and checked the baby out, too. He couldn't find anything either. He talked to me for a while and told me what my OBGYN had told me ... not to worry and that it is common.
The technician measured all the other structures, too, and said that the baby is growing perfectly and that everything looks great! The baby is 2 pounds 9 ounces and growing.
